The TRUEFORCE System for Gran Turismo 7

An overview and our thoughts on Logitech’s TRUEFORCE system specifically for Gran Turismo 7. With our thoughts on the best steering wheel to use with it.

It’s not a gimmick

First thing to say is, the TRUEFORCE system adds legitimate value to the GT7 sim experience. In a nutshell, the TRUEFORCE system processes high-definition data as you race to produce haptic feedback that is much more realistic. Older technology in other wheels may not be able to process this data at this rate, and instead making more of an approximate ‘guess’ at sensations generated as you race, providing a less accurate haptic experience.

The fine-grain detail in the TRUEFORCE system consists of various vibrational effects, road surface and terrain changes, tire contact, and weather effects. Feeling this sort of detail can not only add to the immersion of racing but it can also give a competitive advantage. When the racing is close, the driver that is more in-sync with the feel and current state of the car has an edge and can capitalise on this to close out a win that would otherwise be out of reach.

It’s worth mentioning that Gran Turismo 7 is fully compatible with the system, so all of this detail is carried through into a TRUEFORCE capable wheel.

Which wheels support TRUEFORCE?

The Logitech G923 is the most cost effective way of getting a TRUEFORCE system, the racing wheel comes with paddle shifters and pedals so you have everything you need to jump into a race.

If you’re a bit more experienced and you’re looking to upgrade your wheel, or just looking for a more premium option, the Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel is also TRUEFORCE compatible. This wheel also has the benefit of being a direct-drive wheel capable of 11Nm of force-feedback, adding to the racing experience even further. The G PRO wheel doesn’t come with pedals if you buy direct from Logitech though, so you’ll have to pick those up separately.
